03 / COMPATIBILITY

Useful, without
the microscopic asterisk.

This is the first working version. Here is the actual scope: what you can do, what is approximated, and what needs checking.

AreaAvailableWhat to know
Opening .bmprObserved schemas 1.2 and 2.0; up to 100 MB.Different versions and archives need testing. This is not universal certification.
Text and common controlsSelection, movement, resizing, text and properties.System fonts and approximate rendering; do not expect pixel-perfect identity.
Icons2,060 Font Awesome Free 6.7.2 variants, historical aliases.Missing variants use a Free style of the same icon. Unknown icons may show ?.
Groups and advanced controlsGroups can be moved and resized as blocks.Individual children cannot be edited; unresolved symbols, variants and controls may remain placeholders.
ImagesEmbedded PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP are supported.External resources, links and embedded SVG are not loaded or executed.
ExportsPage as SVG/PNG; text as Markdown; JSON; Mermaid and draw.io.Diagrams infer connections from endpoint proximity: review them. PNG is limited to 8,192 px per side and roughly 32 megapixels.
Saving .bmprIn-memory copy, unknown data preserved, SQLite integrity check.Experimental. Reopening in Balsamiq is not certified; thumbnails are preserved, not regenerated.
PersistenceIn-memory history and explicit downloads. No persistent autosave. Undownloaded changes are lost when closing or reloading.

Integrity is not certified compatibility

Saving without changes returns the same bytes as the original. With changes, Telario updates the affected pages in a database copy, preserves unknown fields, and runs PRAGMA integrity_check. That establishes SQLite database consistency; it does not prove that every Balsamiq version interprets the result as intended.

When adding pages with unknown required columns, the writer may refuse to save. Embedded thumbnails are not updated and may show an earlier revision. Keep the original and check every saved copy before introducing it into your workflow.

Open icons, visible attribution

Icons come from the official Font Awesome Free catalog, with CC BY 4.0 licensing for SVG and JS. The project includes the licence and attribution; it does not distribute the Pro catalog. Some substitutions affect style: for example, database-regular is displayed using database-solid, without changing the identifier in the document.

A useful test beats a claim

The repository includes tests on synthetic documents, renderer regressions, interaction checks, and exports. Local checks on real files do not make those documents public. Demo fixtures are not certified Balsamiq exports.
